Cassidy Ott

Cassidy Ott earned her BA in Art, with a double minor in Neuroscience and Psychology, from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Ranging from frenetic abstraction to devotional figuration, Ott employs a range of painterly approaches to express the role of fragmentation in forming a more complete sense of self. Themes of consumption run throughout her work—whether through the ways cultural systems shape identity, or how the female body is often positioned as something to be consumed. Through varied processes and visual languages, Ott builds a body of work that reflects the complexity of understanding oneself.
