Cody Tumblin

Cody Tumblin’s paintings are quiet celebrations of color—densely layered surfaces of painted collage and found textiles that read as tender devotions to the natural world. Motifs of shooting stars, sprawling vines, and constellations of hearts often appear, woven into mosaic constructions of vibrant jewel tones and muted hues. Tumblin approaches painting as both a devotional act and a formal process that binds color to a spiritual form.

Cody Tumblin (b. Tennessee) lives and works in Chicago, IL where he received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. Recent exhibitions include Secrist Beach, Design Museum Chicago, Devening Projects, and Left Field Gallery.
